Thank you for visiting my web site. Let me tell you a little about myself.
My name is Dusty Benson and I have been training dogs for more than 40 years. In 1982 I gave up my job as a veterinary nurse to become a full time trainer and in 1991 I became a Member of the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers. I have competed in Agility competitions for 15 years, first with my Flat Coated Retriever, and then with my Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. My best achievement was competing at Crufts with my CKCS Jay (but I didn't win!). I have also shown dogs for many years, having my greatest success with a Great Dane whose name was Shane. (Shane was also famous as the dog "Pilot" in a production of Jane Eyre at the Chichester Festival Theatre).
I started Westergate Dog Training (Now Dustys Dog Training) in 1982 in response to a demand for outdoor dog training. Classes are held all year round, giving a more realistic and practical training environment. I use and teach only kind and motivational training methods because training your dog should be enjoyable and fun! You will then have a pet that is controllable, sociable and a valued member of the family. One of my primary aims is to teach you how to understand your dog, and be a good pack leader.
